LG&E reached out to my team because they were experiencing large call volumes from new home builders and contractors, all wanting to know the status of their gas and electric meters. Working with LG&E, our team crafted a custom solution that will help them communicate with their customers in real-time with the status of their newly installed meters. By simply typing in their address, a user can see exactly where their meter installation is in the process. They can also quickly learn about problems that could delay their meter installation.

I led the UI design vision for this responsive web application. I also assisted the UX Researcher in various workshops, conducted customer validation interviews, user stories, and user testing of our application.

Designing for accessibility

LG&E is a public utility company with a diverse customer base, which meant a large part of our work was ensuring that the digital products we built were accessible and followed the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).

Research.png

Co-creating with customers

We involved customers early in the process by facilitating testing sessions and conducting quick surveys in the field. Insights from these sessions helped us to iterate quickly and test different solutions with the customers.

Designing with research

We interviewed numerous users and the client and created multiple user stories based off those conversations. These user stories enabled us to design with both the user and the client in mind and make sure we hit everyone's needs.

Note: Since the project is still being implemented, I cannot share more than mockups at this time. I'm happy to discuss more about design challenges and learnings in person, so don't hesitate to get in touch via email.
