GE Aviation Dubai

Welcome Center Software

GE Aviation is among the top aircraft engine suppliers and offers engines for the majority of commercial aircraft. GE Aviation is part of the General Electric conglomerate, which is one of the world's largest corporations.

GE came to our team with a problem, they wanted to create a collaborative center in some of their key market areas. In order to create these collaborative centers, our team first had to understand how GE was changing the aviation game.

Over the course of a year, we learned the ins and outs of aviation and how GE was using a system to predict airplane maintenance. By predicting when a plane needs service, you eliminate any unforeseen downtime. This keeps more planes in the air, less canceled flights due to maintenance, and saves the company money.

We worked with the Dubai team to create a collaborative center from start to finish. Actually flying to Dubai twice to work with the client face to face, and ensure that the software we created was working properly. We created software for a large video wall, a welcome screen, a collaborative area, and a learning station.

The final result? GE landed a $16B contract with Emirates Airline. And this graphic designer knows too much about plane engine maintenance!

Designing for accessibility

One of our biggest hurdles was designing something that people from all over the world could easily understand. We had to make sure that everything that we designed could support multiple languages, some of those reading from right to left.

Designing with research

Our team completely immersed themselves in the aviation world. With help from the GE Aviation team, we were able to learn about aviation, and then create software that would allow GE to teach their visitors.

I'm happy to discuss more about design challenges and learnings in person, so don't hesitate to get in touch via email.
