I have spent quite a lot of time cleaning up the audio (most importantly removing 50HZ hum, and broadband noise), before assembling the DVD again. I have not done anything to the m2v/video file. ** This is a historic recording, and the video/audio quality is only of "acceptable quality". Maybe in the future a better version will surface...

James Brown played many shows over several days at the Olympia Paris in March 1971. Parts of this has been released in 1992 on the CD "James Brown Love Power Peace Live at the Olympia, Paris 1971" Polydor 314513389-2

NONE of the songs on the CD are contained on this DVD. I will go through this in detail:

1. Introduction
DVD: Much shorter introduction, and if one compares Bobby Byrd's announcement at 00:00:17 - 00:00:23 with a similar announcement at 00:00:52 - 00:00:59 on the CD, one can hear that they are different.

2. Brother Rapp
DVD (00:03:20)The first "bridge" (refrain) is at 00:01:32
			The second bridge is at 00:02:47 (24 bars of music)

CD (00:03:03)The first bridge is at 00:01:32
		     The second bridge is at 00:02:24 (28 bars of music) 

The CD version is shorter, has different form, and a shorter second bridge.

3. Ain't it Funky Now

4. Georgia on My Mind
DVD slower tempo
       End of song (00:05:23) JB says: " I wanna know if everyone is feeling alright"
       Goes into slow vamp at 00:06:11, and then into "Sunny"

CD   End of song (00:05:10) JB sings: "Keeps Georgia..."
       Goes into fast riff at 00:05:51

5. It's a New Day
DVD (00:02:59) JB + drums at 00:01:51, JB sings one phrase: "Clap your hands, come on, do it. Stomp your feet!"
At the end of the song, JB says: "Come on - hit me!" Not on CD

CD (00:02:52) JB + drums at 00:01:53, JB sings: "Clap your hands, come on."

6. Bewildered
DVD (00:04:35) At the end of the tune (00:04:02) JB says: "Take it down!"

CD (00:04:19) At the end of the tune (00:04:19) JB says: "I need your love so bad."

The lyrics are completely different at the end of these two versions.

7. Sex Machine

8. Try Me

Measuring the length from the start to the guitar riff starting "Papa's got a brand new bag", shows that the DVD version of "Try Me" is more than 30 seconds longer.

9. Medley: Papa's Got A Brand New Bag/I Got You (I Feel Good)/I Got The Feelin'
DVD (00:01:30) At 00:01:02 JB sings "Baby, Baby, Baby" X 4 with equal precision
                      At 00:01:07 JB sings "I got."
                      At 00:01:15 JB sings "down" X 3 with falling intonation

CD (00:01:28)   At 00:01:00 JB sings "Baby, baby, baby" X 4, the third time he misses the start of the phrase, because he draws breath.
                      At 00:01:05 JB sings "I got - Good God!"
                      At 00:01:14 JB sings "down" X 3 with "straight" intonation        (no pitch change) 

The two versions of this song are maybe the most difficult to tell apart, because the arrangement is very tight, and the band is so good. But with careful listening, one can find the subtle differences. 

10. Give it up or turn it loose

The opening phrase "please" is sung very different on these two versions. The opening "please" on the DVD has a long falling ornamented melodic line. The DVD version is also longer.

CD (00:00:39) JB starts this version "Fellows, can I go to the bridge? To the bridge - hit it!"

14. Super Bad
