July ? 1983 - somewhere in Italy (bonus) This version of Material was something of a musical trainwreck. Laswell comes up with some great band concepts(Last Exit, Praxis, Arcana.....) but this is not one of them. Check the audience reaction before and after the encore This is a multi camera pro shot vid, that was intended for release. I was told by the band member I got this from(and you might notice the scene in the vid), that Laz was pissed at the crew for keeping the camera on him and Henry while Sharrock was soloing, among other things, so it was shelved. The quality on this VCD rip is only so-so. I don't have the time and equipment to do anything better like a DVD for now, so you'll have to live with the glitches and artifacts. There are a few interesting/funny stories I heard about this tour........ ......This was the only tour where Material performed Rockit, which was originally slated to be a Material album, but was instead bought by, and put out under Herbie Hancock's name. When Herbie accepted his Grammy for the album, he looked almost embarressed, and thanked Laswell & Co profusely .......This tour was nearly cut short when one of the band members was caught bringing pot into Italy.........Sonny being interviewed, and responding to the question "So Sonny, how long have you been into scratching?" with "Ever since my ass started to itch"........priceless
