BEAUTIFUL STRANGE Comments: Prince's aftershow in the wee hours of 3rd November 2002 at Nighttown, Rotterdam, Holland, following the 2nd November concert at Sportpaleis Ahoy is the last performance on the European One Nite Alone Tour. Again, an excellent recording by the guys from Global Funkschool. In fact, this 2-CD set is the companion release to "Rotterdam We Come 2 Jam" [again, seeded previously]. Although in my personal opinion this is not as great as the aftershow at Le Bataclan in Paris, France, 29th October [am], this is still a very enjoyable and quite impressive performance. First of all the instrumental jam that opens the concert is absolutely stunning and a must-listen for any Prince fan. And the raunchy guitar numbers that follow are always such a treat to listen: "Whole Lotta Love", "Family Name", "Bambi". But the true highlights here are featured on the second disc, as Prince chose to play no less than 4 truly rare numbers, i.e. the Black Album fusion instrumental "2 Nigs United 4 West Compton" [rearranged, and dedicated to Rotterdam obviously], the Gold Experience track "Dolphin", and the outtakes "Calhoun Square" and "Beautiful Strange". It's a very nice aftershow to end what shall remain one of Prince's finest European tours.
