PRETTYMAN Comments: An excellent show, although not as impressive as the over-the-top concert in Berlin, Germany, 19th October 2002 [my previous upload]. Still, there's noteworthy performances of "The Rainbow Children", "Sign O' The Times" [one of the strongest versions I've seen him play] and "The Everlasting Now". The crowd was really into the show that night, and Prince obviously relished the atmosphere. The encores start unusually with "Pop Life", which was not played during the main set. The absolute highlight on this set is the soundcheck before the show, which Sabotage put on the 3rd CD. Barring the Antwerpen, Oct.18th soundcheck, it was the most entertaining "beforeshow" he gave us on the entire European tour. "Power Fantastic" was played as the soundcheck opener, unfortunately the staff was still holding us all in the lobby, which means we could only hear it and not watch the actual performance taking place. The soundcheck recording starts with the second number, "Sweet Baby". Check out the extraordinary versions of "Cool" and "Shake!", couldn't believe my eyes and ears when he played them! The sound quality is that of an EX AUD DAT recording made according to Sabotage's customary standards of excellence. And it's really enjoyable, especially during the soundcheck which comes out of the hi-fi crystal-clear!
