For those looking for jazz connections - Foday played and recorded in the band Mandingo with Hank "Hamidu" "Hamid" Drake and Don Cherry, he performed and recorded also with Herbie Hancock, Pharoah Sanders and most recently with Jack DeJohnette (Their record "From the Hearts of the Masters" should see the light of the day in January/February).

Oh well - not to forget - he performed and recorded also with Phillip Glass, Kronos Quartet and Bill Laswell - remember Material's "Live in Japan"?

But Foday is first of all the master of West African Music. Check out his solo recordings on Flying Fish and CMP.

No need to talk about the second hero of this performance - Jack DeJohnette - one of the best jazz drummers in the short history of this music.
