Maybe forever* -Jeff Buckley- 12-31-95 Notes:: Yes it was me who taped this DAT at 48khz. Being a novice at the time (this was perhaps my first DAT recording) I transfered the tape to CDR at 48khz causing it to sound lower in pitch. I only gave the slow speed CDR copy to one or two people so somehow down the line, years later, it appeared. This show was fun because it was basically for friends as Mercury is such a small intimate place. One of my friends at this show was drinking with Jeff the night before causing the pre New Year's Eve hangover. The big guy in front of me thought I was lighting a joint when I was trying to turn off the LED light on the DAT player. He also screamed "YES!!!!" before "The Other Woman", he was a huge R&B and Nina Simone fan. I've left in all the in between song banter from the crowd and from Jeff as it really is great evidence to how people react to music.... It's so varied really and I'm always amazed when I go to shows how some people just talk the whole time regardless of what's going on onstage. I'm the silent type at shows as I just want to focus on the music but to each his/her own. In the grand memory of my New York years, this has to be a high point and certainly my friends and I were so shocked to learn of his passing. I think I shut the door on listening to Jeff after that just to avoid the sadness. But it was a real pleasure digging the DAT out of the box and going thru the transfer process again (this time at the right speed).
