Broadcast 12/02/05 There was a little incident in my house right at the start of the recording and a visiting relative switched the cable box to a different channel! Suffice to say we are a little frosty at the moment. So, in order to fix the minute of missing broadcast, I grabbed the RM stream from the BBC website using Real7ime Converter version 1.1, and edited the first 91 seconds into the original file. So the geneology of this is NTL cable broadcast > CDR (LiteOn 5005 DVDRecorder) > WAV (dBpowerAmp v10) > Edit first 91 seconds RM stream (Real7ime Converter v1.1/Audacity) > FLAC FrontEnd l.7. 12/02/05 BBCRadio 2 One Nation Under a Groove The Story of George Clinton and P-Funk Craig Charles navigates the Mothership for an hour, taking us on a journey through P-Funk from 1960s psychedelic rock to early 80s electro-funk. Parliament and Funkadelic revolutionised r'n'b music in the 1970s, dominating dance floors with hits such as Flashlight, One Nation Under A Groove, Aquaboogie and (Not Just) Knee Deep. Led by the 'Godfather of Funk,' the unique and somewhat off the wall George Clinton, the two groups were known collectively as P-Funk. With their various off-shoot bands they were responsible for placing nearly 60 singles in the US r'n'b charts in the 1970s. Somewhat underground for a large part of their career, the P-Funk mob came to public attention through their outrageous sense of fashion, drug-fuelled music and crazy behaviour, influencing many musicians from Michael Jackson to Stevie Wonder. Their theatrical live performances, complete with a huge spaceship landing on stage, were one of the hottest attractions on the circuit and their unmistakable sound has been and will be copied for many years to come. Hear exclusive new interviews with P-Funkers George Clinton, Bootsy Collins, Bernie Worrell, Billy 'Bass' Nelson, Garry 'Starchild' Shider, Frankie 'Kash' Waddy, Greg Thomas and Lige Curry. Plus contributions from Nile Rodgers, Lenny Henry, Nelson George, Run DMC, Public Enemy's Flava Flav and Jurassic 5.
