I recall that at the time I had heard from a friend that the trumpet player Vince was planning to leave the band and this would be his last show. That turned out not to be true, but I do seem to recall seeing a show later in the year with a different trumpet player. I also recall that the opening band was called "Daisy Spot", fronted by a very cute young woman but I didn't record that set. At the time Cake were doing what I considered the "standard Cake set", which includes most of the songs from Motorcade of Generosity, plus a couple that were on Fashion Nugget. John's patter was pretty much the same every time I saw them, and it wasn't too much after this that I got tired of this exact set of songs no matter how well they played them. I probably saw them six or eight times in the 1993 and 1994 and they only added one or two new songs in that period. I really enjoyed this show and the tape turned out fairly well. There are a couple of screw-ups, typical of something I recorded. After much stress I decided that I would rather have fun at a show than stress over a perfect recording. It shows in most of my tapes and this is no exception. A good example is the cut at the beginning of Mr. Mastodon Farm. While there was a long break to change a guitar string I paused then forgot to un-pause when they started again so the beginning of the song is cut. The tape flip was at the end of Italian Leather Sofa. On the other hand, there are some pretty great performances here. Nuggetis one of my personal favorites. There were some pretty huge gaps between the songs where John talked to the audience. I've left them in but separated them out into separate tracks so that they can be easily skipped.
